Our program is designed specifically for adult clients. We ask for an 8-12 week commitment, depending on the desired weight loss goals, along with maintenance and gradual tapering off. During your office visits, we will monitor your weight (including body composition), assess vital signs, review symptoms, adjust doses as needed, and track your progress with diet and exercise.

If you are interested in using Semaglutide injections for weight loss, prior consultation is required with Anna Stasiv, Board Certified Nurse Practitioner, to determine if it is a safe and appropriate weight loss option for you. Anna will conduct a comprehensive medical history and physical examination. If you are identified as a suitable candidate, we will proceed with enrolling you in our weight loss program and design a personalized treatment plan specific for you.

Semaglutide belongs to a class of medications called GLP-1 (glucagon-like peptide-1) agonists, which mimic the hormone GLP-1 in your body to lower blood sugar levels after a meal and increase satiety. It is an injectable medication that has been used to manage Type 2 diabetes. In addition to blood sugar-lowering effects, Semaglutide injections have been also found to help with weight loss. Semaglutide injections have been approved by the FDA since 2021 as weight loss treatment for individuals who are obese or overweight and have at least one weight-related medical condition. For best results, Semaglutide should be used in combination with decreased calorie intake, increased nutrient-dense diet, and increased physical activity.

Weight loss with Semaglutide injections is achieved through a mechanism of appetite suppression and feeling of satiety which results in decreased calorie consumption. Studies have shown that individuals who take Semaglutide injections for weight loss can expect to lose average of 10%-15% of their body weight over the course of a year. However, weight loss is an individual journey that depends on many factors, and the exact amount of weight loss can’t be guaranteed.

During your consultation with Anna, Nurse Practitioner, side effects and contraindications will be discussed in detail. Briefly, most side effects are mild and occur with dose titration which then improve or resolve in a few weeks. In most recent clinical trials, less than 5% of people discontinued the weight loss medication due to side effects.

The most common side effects with the Semaglutide Injections include, but are not limited to: nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, constipation, acid reflux, abdominal pain, headache, fatigue, and low risk of mild hair loss.

Less common adverse reactions include, but are not limited to: pancreatitis, anaphylaxis/angioedema, thyroid disorder, visual changes, hypoglycemia, and acute gallbladder disease.

Contraindications: Personal & family history of medullary thyroid carcinoma or in patients with Multiple Endocrine Neoplasia syndrome type 2; Known hypersensitivity to Semaglutide; Acute Pancreatitis; Acute Gallbladder Disease; Hypoglycemia; Acute Kidney Injury; Type 1 Diabetes or Diabetic Retinopathy Complications in Patients with Type 2 Diabetes; Thyroid Cancer or Thyroid Nodules; Heart Rate Increase; Suicidal Behavior and Ideation; Body Dysmorphic Disorder; Eating Disorders (anorexia, bulimia); Pregnant, trying to become pregnant or breastfeeding.
